Ice in the Archive
The archive currently contains ~2 km of ice predominantly from Canadian High Arctic and Alpine regions, including core samples from the:
- Penny Ice Cap
- Devon Ice Cap
- Prince of Wales Icefield
- Agassiz Ice Cap
- Columbia Icefield
- Mount Logan
- Müller Ice Cap
Find our Samples
We are developing a searchable database for the archive that we will upload upon completion. The database will include a digital image catalog of our ice core collection, as well as relevant data and publications.
In the meantime, please inquire directly with the ice core staff (Alison Criscitiello at crisciti@ualberta.ca or Anne Myers at almyers@ualberta.ca) regarding the ice inventory. Otherwise, feel free to explore the database with our interactive map below.
Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) Recovered Files
Ice cores that were collected prior to 2010 were transferred from the GSC to UofA in 2016. Along with these cores, we also received relevant data files that are available for download below.
