Physical Therapy Month

In Canada, May is Physical Therapy Month, the perfect time to remind ourselves that physiotherapy is for everyone! We spoke to current PT students about why PT is their chosen profession, and how they hope to make difference for their clients:

Meet PT student Nathan Kiazyk

For Nathan, a career in PT is not only the realization of eight years of schooling; it’s also an amazing pathway to delivering the best balance of fulfilling work, an active lifestyle and an opportunity to help people in a way in which he knows he can give his best effort.

“Becoming a PT became a goal of mine seven or so years ago, and the fire and passion has only become more intense as I continue down the path toward my goal.”

Meet PT student Jess Gelderland

Jess considers interacting with people and helping them pursue goals and activities they love to be the best part of her work in PT.

“On placement, I took time to chat with a patient about how an exercise could help with different activities and why I had picked it for him. I was shocked at how grateful he was for the explanation and how much more eager he was to participate. The experience opened my eyes to how important it is to share the knowledge behind why we do things with our patients.”
